Does anyone have any info on Hitler's relatives after the war?Did they change their name?Leave Germany? Were they treated badly? What were their feelings about Adolph?I don't recall ever hearing anything about them.

A close relative of Hitler's joined the US navy towards the end of the war. He has surviving relatives, but they no longer use the name Hitler and have remained fairly anonymous, for obvious reasons.
Can't remember all the details but there was a documentary on TV about "The last of the Hitler's" quite recently. I'm sure someone will be able to oblige with further details.
What struck me was that Adolf supposedly lived in Liverpool for a short spell after the first war with a relative. I thought perhaps it was a hoax of some kind, but I'm told it is a fact.

    Re: message 2.

    Daniel,

some months ago I looked in a book with the familytree at the end and what happened to all the familymembers. But I don't remember where I saw the book, it can be in a bookshop where I have many times a quick read in the books without buying...(no Scottish or Dutch family in my familytree...)

But if someone wants to know more:

Google: hitler family. You have it all, including a film from ZDF in august of this year. You have comments on this film in German and English. Wikipedia says that historians say that it was some "boasting" of the Hitler's relative's wife in her diaries that Adolf lived in England for two years with them...

In the meantime, Daniel, prettige eindejaarsfeesten,

    Paul.

About Liverpool, local legend says he lived with his sister/aunt in a house off Lime Street.

    Hi all,

Thought I'd better add my bit to this one!
Hitler had a nephew by the name of Alex (his half-brother's son) who did indeed live in Liverpool, and ended up emigrating to the US. The US military got a great deal of propaganda out of the fact too, since when the US entered the war, Hitler's nephew fought in the US Navy!

He then vanished into obscurity after the war, and no doubt changed his name, and his surviving descendants (two sons) have made a pact never to have children, so that the Hitler bloodline will die out with them. I am working off memory here so please forgive me if I am wrong!
One of the satellite history channels ran a documentary on the whole story of Hitler's visit to Liverpool some time last year, I think called the "Last of the Hitlers" or something like that.

    Cheers
    DL

Famous writer Beryl Bainbridge wrote a novel - called "Young Adolf" - about this bit of Hitler's life

    Darklight,

This bit of "history writing" is also an example as how history has to be written and also an illustration to the thread here below about oral history.

Thanks for your reply and for reading all my work about your democracy/corruption thread.

Happy New Year to you too and have also a lot of "obligations" to the family (conspirator's smile),

    Paul.

I do believe that Hitler didn't have any children himself.

From what (little) I know, I gather that he has some nephews (two) and I recall seeing a brief interview with one of them some years ago.

Apparantley the two nephwes have changed their name (for obvious reasons!) and also made a pact that they will never have children.

Hope that helps. Does anyone have any info on Hitler's relatives after the war?Did they change their name?Leave Germany? Were they treated badly? What were their feelings about Adolph?I don't recall ever hearing anything about them. Β

I wonder if history would have been the same if a certain Adolf Schickelgruber's father hadn't changed his name?

Hitler never visited Liverpool, this is am myth. No evidence to back it up.

Can anyone settle the Liverpool question??

Personally, I have my doubts, but "Last of the Hitlers" documentary makes a clear statement that Adolf lived in Liverpool for a short time after WWI.

The stuff on the Web is all a bit patchy, (who trusts the Web now anyway?) would be nice if someone has something a bit concrete.

I'm considering going back to old fashioned pen and paper, because some of the stuff you read on the Internet is a pile of old toadie pap. After all, you don't have a Publisher or a Lawyer to check your claims do you. You could rewrite history and future generations might actually believe it, "cos it's on the Web"!!
