Jet aircraft

    Hi guys
    Did the Japanese experiment with jet aircraft?

    Hi Stan,

    They did indeed. Mainly through using existing German jet technology though. They were working on a Japanese version of the Me262 (slightly smaller but just as fast). They were also working on a rocket powered aircraft similar in concept to the Me163 Komet to intercept B29s. They also had the infamous Okha rocket powered bomb for those of a more Kamikaze nature, based around the Me163 concept which was actually used in combat (disastrously-the parent aircraft were all shot down before they even got close to their target, the bombers carrying them lost all speed and manoeuvrability, not that they had much to start with).

    I'm not entirely sure how advanced their jet production was, I think they made it past first flight, but never got to production.
