    Paul,

Do you have any knowledge about a Belgian Resistance group during World War 2 called "Clarence"?
Its leader was supposed to be a Graaf Liederkerke de Pailhe ( executed 9th Oct 1943 in Utrecht).

It may have also have been known in Belgium as Rood Kapje or Chaperon Rouge.

There seem to be some connection with the Hannibal Spiel in Wilhelmshaven
( our old well known thread).

    Another name involved is Erkins.

    Dirk,

in my research some months ago about the Belgian resistance/collaboration I read about Clarence. Graaf Liedekerke Roodkapje (Chaperon Rouge).

I think I remember the book where I found it. Tomorrow afternoon I will do some research in the local library where I borrowed the book. If I have time...

I don't remember Erkins but I noted it and will look if I find some references to him.

    Kind regards.

    Re: Message 1.

    Dirk,

excuse for the delay, but I did a lot of research sadly ending at nearly notting. At least notting new that we have not yet communicated in the past I believe.

After some three hours research I come always back on the same site that I think is the same of you: Documentatiegroep 40-45. There it is all told as you mentioned it.

And yes by the Hannibalspiel the Germans were infiltrated in that resistance group and by arresting that group they were endangering the Englandspiel, which was infiltrated by another group of Germans.

I found also some mentioning of the Hannibalspiel in some website about Ida Maria van Dugteren.

And of course the seemingly only book about the Hannibalspiel that I already mentioned to you by Jan van Lieshout: "Het Hannibalspiel". ISBN 9026945744.

Also: Graaf RaphaΓ«l de Liedekerke de Pailhe born 15/4/1903 and fusilated at Rynauven Utrecht 9/10/1943. Did intelligence and housed French detainees.

Clarence was led by Dewè. And I found only about Clarence and notting about Roodkapje and no connection to Clarence of it in my books from the local library. If I find sooner or later something I let it know you.

Found some interesting stuff during my research about "Gladio" too, but make another thread about it.

    Kind regards.

Thanks, Paul, for your reply on this thread.

It is amazing how little one can find about the Hannibal Spiel.

It was a intelligence unit attached to the Kriegs marine , had connection with Canaris ( the man from the Abwehr) and yet even him made very little reference to that particular section.

Eventually on the orders of higher up the Kriegsmarine disbanded the ( in my opinion very succesful) intelligence section in the early stages of WW2.

    Tot wederhoren.(Until we hear again)

    Re: Message 4.

    Dirk,

thank you very much for the reply. And yes I think I read about the Hannibalspiel in the book from Heinz Höhne: "Patriot in Zweilicht" (twilight). In English: "Hitler's Masterspy". Available from $11.50 on. If I recal it well Heinz was a reporter from "Der Spiegel".

Until we hear again and kind regards.
