This organisation played a big part in the spotting and recognition of Enemy Aircraft and Friendly Aircraft during the Second World War after they had crossed the cost and were lost to the outward pointing RADAR.
Some members were Sea Bourne during the D-Day Invasion. Yet in 1991 the Corps was stood down
The only mention I have ever seen in any film was a 3 second mention in βThe Battle of Brittanβ and an old Public relations film of about the 1970βs and thatβs it.
Were we so hush-hush that every one forgot about us. Ater all your never more than 5 miles from one of our POST.
There is probably no dramatic film footage - that is the prerequiste these days, so more SS or Nazi get togethers.
Just the sort of answer I expected form some one who know NAFF all about the ROC.
Not that I know a great deal about the ROC myself (apart from web research), but I have to agree with DaveMBA to some extent, perhaps the ROC just aren't "glamorous" enough. BUT....
There seems to be increasing interest in the 1950's and 60's role of the ROC, and a number of the underground monitoring posts have been up for sale around the country whcih has made the news. I wouldn't be surprised (and would very much like) to see a "Secrets of the Cold War" type programme, so maybe that's the most likely.
