how come there is no such thing as an english national party pushing for english independence?
what would be the results if england declared itself an independent republic?
Our olympic team would be rubbish.
Our army would lose some of it's best soldiers.
Being a republic would mean getting rid of the royal family, leading to long drawn out debates, (confusing our politicians even more) the removal of the head of the CofE, the destruction of the commonwealth....
Also which soldiers would maintain garrison duties around the world?
Would the scots go to Sierra Leone, Serbia and Germany, the Welsh to Gibraltar, Iraq and Belfast.....
Just some ideas..
Its called the BNP mate

but surely you could have an english nationalist movement that did'nt revolve around race
i mean an inclusive sense of nationhood that was english, but wished not to be part of britain anymore.
in that case then the closet you could get would be the UKIP
at least of the parties that I have heard of anyway

In this new and enlightend age if some one attempted to that they have the PC lovlies on them like a ton of bricks as well as be accused of being racist and no doubt they would be detained under the new anti-terrorist act.

There is an English Nationalist Party. It usually goes by its other name of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ.
For those of us from other parts of the UK, it never ceases to amaze us how athletes and sportsmen are suddenly reported as "British" when they are winning , but revert to being Scottish, Welsh or Irish when they are losing.
England doesn't need a party for independence. It is England that has been cementing the Union for centuries and it will continue to do so.
Actually, there is an English Nationalist Party, although it has changed its name now to something like the English Democracy Party. Gary Bushell was one of their Parliamentary candidates in the last election. He didn't win.
There is another one called the English Independence Party as well. I don't know what they stand for, but I think they are pro-devolution rather than of the BNP fascist ilk.

exactly which is why we need a full federal set up
A union Government to cover things not devolved and seperate parliaments with equal status and powers for the three home nations
And destroy the Union in the process? Preposterous.
And destroy the Union in the process? Preposterous.Β
why would it destroy the union??
It would leave all the home nations on equal footing, remove some of the anti english bias from the scots and welsh and provide the english with a parliament not weighted against them with the inclusion of celtic mp's
A federal kingdom with the Queen as its head would be for me at least a logical way forward to maintain the union

I would go along with that, except I would prefer a federal republic with Elisabeth Windsor as its ceremonial president, to be confirmed by the house of lords periodically (every 5 years or so).
