Hey
on this mission, it doesnt state anywhere that if 9 ships reach the saftey of the harbour, or if it lasts to 30 hours of the mission, that the mission is over, might want to incorperate this somewhere for players just trying the game for the first time
Huh? Really? Damn I think I'm nearly lost
Hey

But I still won though after 30 turns
So how few ships can reach Cadiz and still let you win ? The rules talk about what happens to ships when they reach Cadiz, regain strength etc, so it sounds as if it isn't game over if one ship reaches there. Anyone worked out what the limit is ? Must be between 1 and 9.
Overall a rather disppointing game, just trying to stop the enemy running away. Since some of them are already closer to Cadiz than you, there doesn't seem any way to stop at least a few escaping. Are there any situations where the enemy will turn and fight ?
Thanks
Must admit I struggled with this game.
Thought I was doing quite well - split the French into 3 groups - gradually wiped out the bottom 2 and I assumed that I could then go after the ones hanging around the top of the map. Then found game ended coz this miserable remnant had docked at Cadiz. I'm not sure if this was in the rules and I missed it, or if it was an unpleasant surprise.
Its not going to be easy being severely outnumbered and having to prevent a few enemy ships from escaping to port.
But nice to have a challenge - as the other games were fairly easy to win (if not get high scores) by playing very defensively.
Ak30rigg:
i played your tactic but had about 5 ships sailning towards Cadiz the whole time and the rest going straight for the line, eventually the ships catch the ships that are heading for safety and hold them up untill the rest of your ships (who are cleaning up the two groups of french round the bottom up of the map) catch up to finish them off, when i played this way only 1 ship made the safety of the harbour
another tactic in this mission as soon as an enemy ship is below 20 health leave it and attack other ships, as these ships cant move or regain health, and when they do attack they dont do hardly any damage, then u can leave one or two ships back to mopp up all the wounded ships well the rest race to the top of the map to finsish of french

Editorial Note: This conversation has been moved from 'Battlefield Academy' to 'Wars and Conflicts'.
When i did it (for the second time) i took all my ships in one group and raced up and across in the fastest possible way, but not fast enough, so it's logically impossible!
