In the excellent new "Battle of Trafalgar" game, the tactics used by Nelson in 1805 don't seem to work. This is partly because the "the faster and more effective British gunnery " referred to in the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ history essay on the battle has become "faster and more effective" Franco-Spanish gunnery.
Also, the combined fleet does not remain in a linear formation as the Royal Navy approaches.
Finally Franco-Spanish command and control is not disrupted by the loss of their flagship. According to the same Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ essay, Nelson was relying on the latter to make his attack successful.
Regards, L Jackson.

Where next? To a board that is appropriate for a game, rather than one supposedly about history, perchance?
No, I rather thought not.
