    To the games team -
How is the morale of the medeival army calculated ? I have managed to have the enemy king isolated far from the rest of his army, but they are all still happy, while my troops next to my king are glum. Troops on the far side of the map from the king become happy. Looks like a calculation error.

Also - Lots of people have got the maximum score of 4300 by destroying all the targets with no loss. Can you perhaps award extra points for an early win, like the romans game, to sort out the men from the boys ?

    Thanks

    Hello simonc-xyz

The morale of the army in the medieval mission should be as a result of how far forward the King is in battle, and how near to his troops he is.

If you have managed to isolate the enemy king far from his troops and they are still high in moral this is very puzzling... and might indeed be a bug which has not been identified previously.

If you could be more specific about the locations of the troops and King when you've identified these problems we shall try and replicate the situation here and see what we can do.

As for the early completion bonus, I was not aware that this was not available for the later missions and I'll look into this for you.

    All the best

    David

I would be happy to send you a screen capture of the medieval game showing the morale, but I don't suppose I could post this to the messageboard. Is there an email address I can use to send it to you ? You have my email address from my Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ profile, so you could send your address there rather than make it public.
    Thanks for your interest.

    Morale-
Just as an example, at the start of the game, the pikeman closest to the blue king is only at 31%, even though only 2 or 3 squares away. The blue knights are all at 20%, even only 6 squares away. By contrast, all the red king's knights are at 100% even though they are just as far away.
Perhaps there are different rules for different troops, knights should be more reliable than the footsoldiers. And some of Richard's troops deserted at the Battle of Boswarth Field, so generally his troops may not have been feeling so loyal.
Is morale being "passed along the line" from the king whre troops are in a continuous line ?

    Hi Scains

I have received an updated response from the developer on how the morale is calculated in the game:

'Currently the morale is calculated based on relative diagonal position across map...'

The morale is therefore more to do with the position of your troops across the battlefield in conjunction with the position of the king.

I like your reasoning about the different rules for the different troops/sides smiley - winkeye but the game engine is balanced in some instances to make the level a more challenging experience. This is most clearly demonstrated by the numbers of troops on both sides, the computers team always having more than the human players team.

If you move your troops up to flank/fight with their king you'll find that their morale jumps right up to 100%, and will give you a definite advantage in battle.

I hope this answers your query. Let me know how you get on smiley - smiley

To answer one of simonc-xyz's previous queries: All missions have early completion bonus for completion in less than 25 moves (though some are easier to complete earlier than others!) smiley - smiley

    All the best

    David
