I'm still struggling to find access to Lancashire
1841/51 Census, reference my earlier posting.
Looked on Family site and i can't find anything ?
If i bought them on disc will the quality be ok and more importantly will they be complete ?
Thanks in adv. for any help !!
Hi, Could I ask which part of Lancashire you wish to search?, best wishes, Jean
No-one seems to be answering your question about the quality of any CDs you mat purchase. Regrettably I don't know as I have never bought one. If you can give me a name in Lancs there are other registers on various websites which may yeild some info.
Jo
I'm mainly interested in the Ancoats, Newton Heath and Oldham areas. If anyone has access to these 1841/51 i will post up some details for potential look ups
thanks again.
Hi, The reason I asked which area, is I live in Lancashire and visit central library in Manchester, where the census's and parish records for the area are held, quite often, if you give me the details, I will try and get the info you need, best wishes, Jean
There is a website which will give you access to the Lancashire 1841 census for Β£14.95. Click on the link below.
Jo
Thanks for the offer Jean (Cassie7), here are the two i'm interested in;
Look ups ref Lancashire 1841/51 (i have info from 1861 onwards)
John Parr b.1827 (born;Ayr Scotland) occup.'Mill Overlooker'
Maria Parr b.1837 (wife) (born; Middlewich Cheshire)
were living at 28 Aqueduct Street, Manchester (Ancoats)
Like to know if they were there in 1841/51 plus household members at the time.
William Hall b.1803 (born;Ashton under Lyne) occup 'Carter'
Mally Hall b.1803 (wife) (born;Oldham)
were living at Ferney Bank Court Oldham.
Would like to know as above.
Thanks Jean for your help.
Thanks Jowin1 re the link site, i did actually sign up for this earlier in the week and to my astonishment found they were far from complete,(and i wasted money) lots of districts not even included, needless to say i complained to them about it. Thanks anyway !!
Well thanks for the info regarding incomplete records. I suppose you have to look at how many records are included in the census and decide if its enough to be complete. Good look in your search.
Jo
Depends how desperate you are really but this guy has both the 1841 and 1851 complete Lancashire census. They are Β£14.99 each. Unsure how long before Ancestry do the whole thing. Just thought I'd show you just in case you have not seen them.
Jo
I believe Ancestry will have the 1851 before the end of this year and 1841 sometime next year....probably wide enough apart for a new subscription but I certainly have no complaints about that as it is far cheaper than travelling to the far reaches of the UK
Have you thought about joining the local Family history society to the area which you are searching? For a small fee (which will be less than the 2xΒ£14.99 and any future Ancestry fee) you will have access to these databases... and others....all year round....and access to possible 'good souls' to help you. You may even find that somebody else has already done some of the research which you are after.
