My Great Grandfather Walter Boon was born July 1854 atHethersett Norwich. His Mother was Eliza Boon.On the 1851 Census Eliza was working for a tunaley family, ........Plummer, wife Hannah, William 22. 26.9.58 Eliza married William Boon. My Grandfather was named William Plummer Boon,
Was William Walter's stepfather or father???? am assuming he was Walter's Father, as yet have not been able to find a Birth Certificate??
It sounds very probable that William Plummer was Walter's father, but you may not be able to prove it.
The 1861 Census shows the following family living 'By Turnpike' in Hethersett:-
William Plummer (head), 31, b. Stoke Holy Cross, Nfk (Ag. lab.)
Eliza Plummer (wife), 29, b. Hethersett
Walter Boon (son-in-law), 7, b. Hethersett
William Plummer (son), 3, b. Hethersett
Son-in-law was the term used then for a step-son or adopted son, so Walter would have been born illegitimately and registered under Eliza's name.
Could you have got the year wrong for Walter's birth? There is a GRO ref for the September quarter of 1853 in Henstead (which covers Hethersett), 4b 153

Thanks for the info re Walter Boon. The dates are correct to the best of my knowledge, being taken from the old Bible. I will try to get a copy of the Birth Certificate. Pat in Qld Australia.<
