My Grandfather does not appear on the 1901 census with the rest of the family and I have just found out that he spent some time in a reform school. He would have been about 11 years old. Could this be the answer and where could I find more info?
Hi, I would have thought he would still appear, could you give us some names and dates to check, best wishes, Jean
A number of institutions are listed on the 1901 census but only with initials of inmates(sometimes with full stops), eg A.B. If you knew which reform school it might be possible to check the entries to see if they match, it may be difficult to do a search but if you look at the actual schedules it might help.
Best of luck.
Hi. Sorry this reply has taken so long but Iv`e been at work. His name is "George Henry Little" and he was born in 1890. I think the reform/borstal school was in Kingswood, Bristol.
Hi Mitzy, I have found the census sheets for Kingswood reformatory in 1901, it lists all the names in full, but there are no signs of George Henry Little or any name similar, do you have any other info on him?, best wishes, Jean
Hi Mitzy,
Where was George Henry Little born and do you know his parents names? There is two possibles on the 1891 census. One born in Buckhurst Hill, Essex and the other born in Sheffield.
Regards
Spike
