Herbert Ernest Jackson Reporter HELP

    Im looking for help to find the above person in my Family Tree & not getting very far.
    I don't know where to start really as the only info I have is from the 1901 census where he's a reporter in South Sheilds aged 31 but he did move to London to continue his career then he became a Author. Does anyone have any ideas where I can start as reporters records weren't held till 1907 I understand??
    I would be greatful to hear from anyone who can point me in the right direction.

    Try the Dictionary of National Biography to see if he is listed. If he worked for a paper like The Times they may have archives or if he reported on something famous that would help. Have you cheked to see if any records in South Shields might give some help as to where he went?.

    The trade union movement in the newspaper industry may help you as he may have joined the equivalent of the National Union of Journalists and maybe there are union membership records.
