Spike, i've noticed that you are very successful in traking people from the census'. I was wondering if you could help me find my great grandmother.

She was born on 16th April 1882 somewhere in London. Her parents are called Charles and Sarah Lee. She may have had a brother called Edward(older or younger). She later married William David Richards of the Brynog Arms, Cardiganshire (around 1920). Her middle name was either Louise or Louisa.

If you can track her from the birth of her children, this may help:

She had 4 children; William in 1921, John in 1923, Gwyn in 1925 and David in 1927.

If you need any other info please ask.

    Many Thanks,
    Tom

Hi Tom, Like Spike, I have been unable to find Beatrice in any census, I think you might be better finding her parents marriage certificate to find her father's occupation and hopefully, his age, this would confirm your details are correct and you may be able to get Beatrice's birth certificate from the GRO through her parents names. Are you really certain of her DOB?, best wishes, Jean

I agree with Spike that you need to get the birth certificate (this can be ordered online from the Office for National Statistics at Southport).

London at that time included Middlesex, Surrey, Essex and Kent. Given that she was born just over a year after the 1881 census then she should be easy to find, but it would help to find where in London she was born. The names in the censuses are often mis-transcribed, use shortened names or just initials.

    Hi,
As per my earlier message a Beatrice LEE born June 1/4 1883 in Holborn, London. Year of birth can vary + or - a Year or two.

Marriage of a Charles Edward LEE to a Sarah Jane LITTLE in the December 1/4 1891 Fulham.

It was not unknown foe couples tp marry years after their children's birth.

Still unable to find Beatrice but the names of her children may help. Watch this space.

    Regards
    Spike
