Hello, I wonder if anyone can help me, I desperately want to send for the marriage certificate of my Gr, Grand Parents, the problems is, I don’t know her maiden name, on all the Census that I’ve seen, they only give her Christian name, her name was Elizabeth and she was born 1861-62 in Fylindales Yorkshire, my G, Grandfather was John Sleightholme born July 17 1856 in Goathland Yorkshire, they were probably married about 1880-1883, I think perhaps in Whitby, I have already looked at the Goathland Parish Reg. There’ s no record of them being married there,
I’ve looked on the free BMD without any success; at the moment I really don’t have the confidence to put my credit card details on the computer,
Thank you
Hi, Have you tried sending for a birth certificate of one of her children, it usually states the mothers maiden name as well as her married name.
Hi
Between 1878 and 1885 there is only one marriage for a John Sleightholme. It's June 1884 in Helmsley. Reference 9d 691.
Regards
Bill
Hi Froggitt,
There is a record of a JOHN SLEIGHTHOLME getting married in WHITBY in the December 1/4 1881. on page 908 there is listed an Easton ELIZABETH Hoggard and no other Elizabeth.
Bit of a stab in the dark though.
Vol. 9d Page 908 refs.
Trust this helps
Regards
Spike
Thank you Spike, that sounds good. I'll look into that
Get a birth certificate for one of the children of the marriage and mothers maiden name will be on it.
