    Hi

You could try the IGI on:

    www.familysearch.org

This has details of baptisms, but doesn't cover all areas or dates.

What is the name of the person and do you know the mother's maiden name?

    Regards

Thanks wavyone- i'd be grateful if you could do a search for me- i am looking for my great grandfather's parents- his name was percy george hobrow- born in maidstone, kent in 1885. I think his parents were Mary Elizabeth Pearson (also born in maidstone, kent) and Henry George Hobrow (born in middlesex, london) but it's possible i am on the wrong track so i just want to make sure- thanx

    Hi

FamilySearch.org is the site of the Church of Latter Day Saints. The site is free to search both for the IGI and the 1881 census.

1901 Census - Percy George Hobrow (15) lived with his Mother Mary E Holbrow (49) Widow and sister Edith Holbrow (23) 47 Albion Rd Maidstone.
1891 - couldn't find the family but it may be a spelling error by the transcribers on the surname...
    1881 Census - Henry G Hobrow (34)born Hackney
middx an Mary E Hobrow (29) born Maidstone, Kent lived with their children Henry WP Holbrow (1), Edith Holbrow (3) and a friend? Elizabeth Hobrow (57) in Chelsea (Road name not clear)

Thanks jc26red- that gives more evidence to my suspicions that the reason the family moved to Mary's birthplace of Maidstone, Kent from London was her husband Henry's death. I believe that in the 1891 census the family (living in Kent by that time- Henry not mentioned) were under the surname Hobson- so that is probably why you couldn't find it. I know that also in the family were another brother and sister to Percy and Edith, Henry William P.Hobrow and Eleanor K.Hobrow, but perhaps they had died or were living elswhere by then? Thanks again for your help- I am very grateful frm devil_lena

I also found another possible Hobrow sibbling -
Grace May Hobrow registered June 1883 Chelsea Vol 1a page 398 died age 2 March 1886 Maidstone
    vol 2a page 193
Given the name is not very common and the family moved from Chelsea to Maidstone in the same timeframe, I think this may be worth looking into. Do you have a dirth date for Eleanor Kate Hobrow as I have found a possible marriage for her - reg June 1901 Doncaster vol 5c page 1354 to either John Henry Cobley or Edwa.rd Crayton

Thanks everyone- i think that is another sibling jc26red- ill look into it. I think Eleanor Hobrow was born about 1882 as i think she was born between Henry- born 1880 approx. and Grace- as you said born in 1883. It's not my blood parents I want to find eisobella but i want to prove the parentage of my great grandmother- do you think they could still help? Thanks a lot again, frm devil_lena
