Can sks look up Elizabeth Stringer born 1798. Index on FMP states she is at Lichfield Staffordshire.
My Elizabeth Stringer driving me up the wall and would dearly like closure. I know it won't tell me birthplace but hoping it tells status. "Widow" would be ideal.
Thanks here's hoping. Every little helps. Syljun
Hi
I posted it on your other thread - see message 4 and 5 of that one
Sorry Tourmie. I just do not get it with this Elizabeth Stringer.
The marriage at Lichfield 1845 Dec Qtr. has a Elizabeth Stringer marrying George Dufill.
If she is the one I am looking for she would be 47, most probably too old to have children. This would have been her second marriage. Her maiden name being Brice marrying William Stringer 1824 at Kingwinsford.
Their son Thomas was my Grt. Grandfather. I know William
was deceased at time of Thomas' marr 1849. I am trying to find out what happened to his mother Elizabeth.
Perhaps my only resource is to try and find burials possibly at Kidderminster. Too many deaths of Elizabeth Stringer without ages to buy all Certs.
Sorry to be trouble. Thanks, Syljun
Do you think any of her children would be still at home?
this is the one at Lichfield, I don't think its her unless she is living with her brother in law?
George Stringer 45
Elizabeth Stringer 47
Maria Stringer 16
Ellen Stringer 10
George Stringer 8
Margarett Stringer 4
Joseph Stringer 1
there is this burial - no age but its the same place as the above Elizabeth
Name: William Stringer
Gender: Male
Burial Date: 03 Feb 1833
Burial Place: Shenstone, Stafford, England
and would take into account the gap in the children's ages
Name: Eliza Stringer
Gender: Female
Burial Date: 02 Jan 1834
Burial Place: Shenstone, Stafford, England
Mother's Birthplace:
Indexing Project (Batch) Number: I03912-9
System Origin: England-EASy
Source Film Number: 1040875
Reference Number: v 8 p 62
oh I wish familysearch would put ages on the burials!
only problem is that Shenstone seems too far from Kinver or Kidderminster, not impossible but unlikely
William and Elizabeth Stringer
also had another boy called John Stringer
baptised 13 Feb 1831
buried 24 Mar 1835
Kinver Staffs
It seems strange that they didn't have any more children after that and one wonders if something happened to one or both of the parents after 1831
Thanks jc, I do know about John the son. When I first started this family history lark I really went to town buying microfiche reader, michrofiche for Kinver and others.I have the burials from 1813-1853 for Kinver b ut could not find burials for William and Elizabeth Stringer so searched further afield. Stringer seems to be common name in Staffordshire.
Not sure now if I ha ve right death/cert for William 1838 Kidderminster.
Going through freebmd for deaths there seems to be two places Penkridge and Wolverhampton where William and Elizabeth may be buried.
William - Penkridge 1840 - Elizabeth 1849 Penkridge
William 1841 Wolverhampton - Elizabeth 1851 Wolverhampton
Again Elizabeth should be on 1851 Census if Wolverhampton.
I think I'll put it on back burner again. I know William was deceased 1849 when Thomas married. I agree about the ages. Nothing is easy
Thanks for your interest. Syljun
