I am looking at my family history and have found out that a great grandfather of mine was born in Illogan, cornwall and migrated to Hetton-Le-Hole in the north east of England. His family were copper miners in Cornwall and he was a coal miner in the north east. His name was Joseph Mills, born 1872. I have found him on the 1881 census aged 9 already living in Hetton, but born in Cornwall. I cannot, however find him any earlier than that to get an exact birthdate. Anyone have any ideas? The parrish council have excellent online records, but I cannot find him in there. Many thanks, Carol

Hello Carol,
Have a look on Familysearch
Scroll down this list on familysearch until you come to Cornwall Parish Registers then click on it another page opens the click on browse through records then click on cornwall and the register you want is Redruth as illorgan is in these and you can see the actual registers and trawl through them, I did it a week ago for a friend, a long process and you have to sign in and use a password but it is free to use.
I got my friends family record from there and you can see the actual register that they signed or made their mark, they are in date order so you can look through until you find the date you want.
Edna
