One family I am researching came across this family, the father's mother was a Coole,

Just wandered if they ever get over something like this.

They had 11 children only 3 lived to adulthood which did happen 150 years ago but the other children only lived a few years, some dieing in the same year.

    Elizabeth Amelia 1870-1873
    Albert Benjamin 1871-1873
    Benjamin Albert 1874-1881
    Grace Selina 1875-1878
    George Stanley 1877-1881
    Henry Claude 1879-1881
    Albert Edward 1880-1950
    John Harold 1883-1963
    Hugh Sinclair 1885-1886
    Lillian Frances 1888-1965

How sad, to nurse and see some life to be snatched away.

    Hi Siamese

Did you ever see the WDYTYA episode which covered a family where many children died young.
Investigation showed that the mother had syphilis, when passed on the the child they were either blind or died very young. That is a possibility in this families case or perhaps another genetic problem.
The family could have been poor but I've found that isn't always the case.

If the family were closer, I would be inclined to buy a couple of birth certs out of curiosity
