I am back at this one part of the tree that has had me stumped for a few years now. I dont have a membership so I am hping someone can help.
I am looking for the parents of Alice Jane (1887), Amy, Meg, Annie(1893), Wilfred and Mervyn Roberts. The 2 with dates died here in Canada and I am assuming the others died in the UK.
I have been told by family that they think that a Peter Roberts(1856) and Alice Eliza Exans are the parents to these kids.
Can someone look on the census or something and let me know if they can see something along these lines? Thanks so much.
PS,, is there a cemetery index for the UK? Where you can search last names to see where one may have been buried? Thanks again,

This seems to be the couple you described, but the children are different. Peter is a wheelwright.

This is the same couple in 1901. They have a daughter Annie the right age, but none of the other children fit.

I think we may need a little more information. Did Alice and Annie marry, either here or in Canada. Do you know when approx they went to Canada or was it via USA. Any area guide about where they came from in the UK. Is that atyping error or is the MMN Evans rather than Exans?
There is a national burial index, it is far rom complete but has 18 million names on it. It is on CD. But I am sure someone will have a look for you
but with such a common name, am area at least would be required.

Tina - is that list of children the whole story ?
On 1911 census, there is a John Roberts and wife Eliza who have 11 living children - those listed include Wilfred 1903, Margaret 1904, Mervyn 1907 and Amy 1910.
John was born 1854 in Exeter Devon and Eliza 1864 North Newton -near Bridgwater., but it is odd that two older sons were born St Helens Lancashire.
Could this be the family?

Roberts & Evans are mainly Welsh surnames
I cant find them on 1901 census

Re message 5 - in 1891 they have a daughter Alice age 4 and in 1901 there is an Annie age 8.
I think the parents you were told are not correct !

Alice Jane Roberts married in the UK a man by the name of Walter Kembery. Annie Roberts also married in the UK a man named Harold Benjamin Warren. I would almost bet on Somerset,, about 99.99 % sure.
Annies daughter (my grandmother) came to canada in 1945 as a war bride and her mother (Annie) came after. I dont not know when Alice and Walter came after them, both couples came to Canada, not the US first.
Last name is EVANS not Exans,, I am so sorry of my typo. Thanks! -

Derek, I think this could definatley be the right family.. Margaret could be shortened to Meg..
My grama always called her Grama Eliza,, but a cousin said she has documentation saying it is Alice Evans,, mother and Peter Roberts as father. I had John and Eliza.
Of the kids I beleive Amy Roberts married a Patrick Clapperton, Meg married a Benjamin Baldwin,, those are the only other names I have. -

But I do know that Nan (Annie) was younger than AJ (Alice Jane),,

Tina - There is a Public Tree on Ancestry showing the ancestors of one of Averil Warren's grand daughters - it has 50 Sissons in it and could probably answer your other questions about Benjamin and Sarah Warren too.

Tina - re your message 11, yes there was an Annie Roberts born to Peter and Alice in Speke, Lancashire in 1893 - see message 3 from Anisel.
There was also an Annie Roberts born in St Helens Lancashire in 1893 to John and Eliza - see message 8 from me.
According to freeBMD, there were 16 other "Annie Roberts" born in Lancashire in 1893 - buying the marriage certificate suggested by MB would be a cheaper option of checking her father.
