Whilst watching Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's "Who do you think you are?" on Len Goodman I had to pause the programme as there were so many similarities to my family tree?. my ancesters were Silk Weavers, ( we came from France) they ended up (as did Len's) in total poverty in Brick Lane, Bethnal Green, London, then low and behold he mentioned the name Cissel which is also on my family tree several times? possibly our ancesters were cousins ..........I wonder??
Hello Pauline and welcome to the board.
All you can do is work on your own tree to see if there is a connection it could just be a coincidence.
If we can help with your own tree in anyway just ask.
Your messages are in moderation at the moment as you are new to the board but only for the first 20+ so your messages will not appear immediatley.
Good luck with your search.
There was quite an influx of French silk weavers at that time, and many settled in London. They were Hugenots and it was a time of persecution. It would not be surprising if the families intermarried; they probably formed a little expat community.
