Thank you Mabel, thats them, I recognise some of the names from family stories. Im surprised at the address - its where my mum and gran were evacuated to in 1940, it explains where my gran met my mum's step dad.
    Thanks again smiley - smiley

Where did you get the info of the marriage from Mabel? I know they married June 1911 but thats all so thank you.

In 1901 they were in Darton which is the next village to Woolley Colliery, in fact WC is just at the end of the lane through Darton, its one of those places that you have to go to as you can't go through it.

I searched the whole of Woolley Colliery yesterday looking for Mary Overend with father William as per the marriage cert on Anc*y but could not find her.

    Found this at Number 42

Despite the transcription for George Bennett Turner the image gives his address as 32 Woolley Colliery, so just a few doors away.

If this Overend family can be linked to William, her father, perhaps she was staying there and she was just missed off the census.

I cannot see her at all in 1911 using variants.

Meant to say that William, Marys father appears to have died in 1908 aged 70 which matched with the 1901 census. This could mean that the William in 1911 bron 1874 could be a nephew of William born 1838 so would be Marys 1st Cousin.

Jo William on 1911 is mentioned in 1891 census as a son to William (1838) and brother to Mary 1891 census is mentioned in an earlier post ( can't recall which ) on this thread

See it now Bash, Message 7. So quite feasable that she was staying with her brother but not mentioned to the enumerator.

Thank you both for looking, does the address for the Overends that you have found in Woolley Colliery just give Woolley Colliery as the address rather than either Top Row or Low Row?

Neither George Bennet Turner at 32 Woolley Colliery, Darton, Barnsley or The Overends as 42 Woolley Colliery, nr Barnsley have Top or Low Row on the written image. Its just the transcribers have put Top Row for the Turners at No 32. The next image after the Turners at No 32 are another Turner family and they are living at 33 Woolley Colliery. Again no mention of Top Row on the image but the transcribers have stated Top Row. I suspect the transcribers were working from summary books too and have omitted some things some times.
