    Dear All

In the 1851 census Richard was stated as being born Somerset Bristol
then in 1861 census is has is birthplace as Stratford-upon Avon then in 1871 it changes again to Illington Warwickshire ...i know that each census is my ancestor as the his wife's name fit and the childrens names are the same ...

but how can i tell which is the correct birthplace for him..
also i am trying to find a marriage for him to his wife Ann their first children was born in Cheltemham Gloucestershire

    any help would be appreciated
    many thanks
    regards ste

ste... you are not giving enough information to get a correct answer!

    Richard Archer born ?
    wifes name?
    first child born when?

With the information you have given, I can only direct you to freebmd and work backwards from the date of the first born. As you know the wife's name, put her name in the search to narrow it down a bit

    Hi ste.

    Richard is Lucy's father, right?

Richard and Ann feature on two trees on A*y. Both have him b. Stratford upon Avon.

One has him married to an Ann [maiden name not known], b. abt 1823 in Ilrington, Warks. No data to substantiate that though.

The other has him marrying an Ann Lawrence (b 1823 in Gloucester) at Greenwich London in 1840. No data to substantiate that either.

Neither tree has any information about parents for Richard or either of the Ann's.

Warwickshire Parish Records are available on A*y, but nothing obvious is popping up for the marriage of a Richard and an Ann around 1845ish.

i was searching familysearch.org and came across a Richard Archer born whittington Shropshire in 1810 and on in Bishops Tackbrook Warwickshire in 1808
however i don't which is my Richard as the census list different birth place so i don't know which birthplace is correct...

if i could maybe find a 1841 census for Richard for him this my help

in 1851 states he was born Somerset Bristol
1861 states he was born Stratford upon Avon
    1871 States Wilmonton
