Can anyone enlighten me please?
Looking at the new familysearch site and can't seem to find an option where you can see whether the record was submitted or extracted.
Thanks Ewan
For some reason, I don't know why, but I was under the impression that all the records which had been 'uploaded' to the site, were not included in the new family search site, that only those taken and transcribed from micorfilm/fiche were included.

You need to look at the film number or batch number to work it out.
Also, I believe submittals are listed lower and separated from the extracted records.
Some of the databases do have images, which one were you looking at?
when you find a record, take a note of the film number then go back to the home page.
Click on catalogue, just under the phrase "Discover your Family History"
select film number from the drop down box of the "search" field, then enter the film number in the "for" field.
This will give you the details of where the entry came from
hope that helps

Hello jc, tried your suggestion yesterday evening and a number of times since but coming up with this message from the site -
'We are unable to display search results due to technical difficulties. Please try searching again in a few minutes.'
So I don't know what is happening there. Unless it is as Jo says that only extracted records are being loaded on to the site and not submitted.
Anyone know the answer please?
For information the film number is 1472112
Ewan
I have just tried the site, using my aunt as an example. On the old site there were records that had been submitted, much to my annoyance, and they were incorrect. These are still there on the "old site"
On the new site, the only record for my aunt is the 1901 census, which of course has a reliable source, even though transcription may vary!
Whether this answers your question, I am not sure. I can only assume from this that the new site contains only information which has been obtained from source documents, be they census, parish, etc. Submitted records, as we know, cannot be relied on.
