They may be in the Hammersmith area/London City, in 1841 and 1851 they were in Hammersmith.

Thank you for finding that for me jc, not sure who the lodgers are and it looks lke William Jordan and daughter of the family Elizabeth aged 23 are an item.

Can anyone help a bit further please and see if the baptisms of Matilda, John and Hannah can be found, I am hoping to find the occupation of the head of the family James at the time of the baptisms. I have had no luck finding baptisms of 2 of their other children so they may not have been done!

    Many thanks
    Ewan

Ewan, is this the info you want:

    Matilda Smith
    England Births and Christenings, 1538-1975
    birth: 8 Dec
christening: 30 Dec 1849 St. Pauls, Hammersmith, Middlesex, England
    residence: Hammersmith, Middlesex, England
    parents: James Smith, Elizabeth

This seems to be the only baptism available and does not give any more info.

Thanks Pheno that is just what I want, I wonder why it didn't state an occupation for James the dad, perhaps he was unemployed at the time.

Hopefully the baptisms of the other children can be found to see what his occupation was at the time.
