This is my husbands Gt Grandmother & on her marriage to Philip Geoffrey Clare
20.8.1850 @ the Cathedral Parish Church Manchester her father is named as John Dickinson - Tailor.
I found the Dickinson family on the 1841c/H0107 569 11f @ 36-Bootle St,Brown Square Manchester.Philip Clare's father James was also a Tailor by trade living & working in Bootle St.Manchester.Presumably that is how they met.
However,I am having trouble finding where John Dickinson was born/married.
According to the 1841census his wife was called Ann & at that time they had 4 children.William 15,Mary 11,Lucy 7 & Edmund 1.
I don't know where Ann came from or her nee name.
Can anyone help me with this please.

How old was she when she got married in 1850? Her parents are down as 30 and 35 in 1841 with a 15 year old son and presumably Mary Ann was older and had left home by then? I know they wobbled the ages around but still doesn't seem right to me.
Maths is not my strong point so apologies if I've got the wrong end of the stick.

Well trying to sort out which is which. Firstly our William is 15 on the 1841c so he would be born c.1826.That would rule out the William Dickenson bapt 1823.
Allowing for the different name spelling in the 3 marriages you have found for John & Ann I would tend to think it would be the later of the 3 marriages. If it is possible that one of them is the correct one.
Incidentally in my notes there was another child Emma b.c.1844 & I have also scribbled the name Hayes against the mothers name( although I am at a loss to know where that came from)
