i am trying to find the birth of richard crompton around 1781 in blackburn. I have looked at lancs parish clerk ite.but nothing really stand out. Is the microfiche record his marriage likely to show his parents or will it be no more than whats sown on line ? ie the st mary the virgin blackburn record just showing himand his spouse...if you know what i mean..
.cheers
Familysearch brings this one up but not certain if he is the one you want

Edna
thanks,i had seen that, its a possibility. Would his parents be named on the microfiche record of his marriage or not ?
What was the name of Richards spouse that you found, above is a list of Marriages at Over Darwen Blackburn and if you need any help with it just ask
Edna
If you can get to the Lancashire Records Office then you may be able to see the actual marriage record to see if the Vicar recorded the parents names or if that is not possible then you can ask at a Mormon Centre near to where you live as you have the details of the microfilm batch which is the C number given above in the Batch
Lancashire records Office is at Preston

pretty sure that he married Peggy Read at St Mary the virgin,Blackburn.I am going to order 2 death certs for them tomorrow which hopefully should confirm it.
parishes within 3 miles of Blackburn Over Darwen above
Over Darwen Parishes ect.,
Edna
These are the Baptisms to Richard Compton and Peggy and they have a son Nathaniel baptised 1813 and the English naming patterns give the first born son named after the Fathers Father which would look right for the baptism that I found earlier for Richard as his father was Nathaniel.
But good luck with the death records.
Edna
thanks for your help.
I took forms for death certs in yesterday 9am,and got them back via post at 12 today.....pretty good service ! I have gone over everything and its definetly the right guy, died in the workhouse though.
The workhouse was also a hospital for the poor and many old workhouses became todays hospitals so does not mean he was poor just sick.
That was a good turnaround time for certs well done for that.
Edna
ah,i thought workhouses were just for the poor, that would explain why he went from living withhis son to the workhouse, possibly. Would there be workhouse records available to confirm this ?
Yes they are for the poor but he may only have gone there because he needed to be nursed and could not pay medical bills.
The local record office may have some records of the one he was in if you ring and ask them to save a wasted journey if they dont.
Edna
thanks,i will give them a ring
