Hi
I have been researching another branch of the family named Carr. There are entries on the 1891 and 1901 census for Emily R Carr married to Michael Joseph Carr of Liverpool/ Birkenhead saying she was born 1860 in 'S America Rosario'. I am guessing this is Argentina but the 1901 census also has an entry I can not decipher (B S O Rustales) is the closest I can make out anyone any ideas? It is under the column for incapacities.
Also I am having difficulty finding her marriage to Michael on Ancestry to get her surname. Any help appreciated

Bertie,
thats the census image has the strange words far right column
Jack
Bertie,
I thought maybe it was her too. Also I traced Michael's family to 1841 census as he is a wheelwright and it seemed to go with the name father to son back down the line.

I have just viewed the original again for 1901 census and the first 2 letters are B S (which is British Subject) and the last 2 words clearly state "Other States".
There are a lot of Carrs in Birkenhead on this page link...
I'll keep searching for Emily's name...

Isn't her surname Greening from the bmd marriages already posted or has that been proven to be wrong.

In the 1901 census it puts Emily's birth as 1873 - while you say she was born in 1860 Jack?Which is it please?
Either she was very creative with her age or there might be a mix up?
Anyways...I have been trawling the Argentina census for 'Greening' and 'Rosario' and many of the entries have 'Grenin/Grenon/Grunin' of Germanic decent...might it be she could have adapted her name/British status when coming to the UK?
just a thought?

Hi BH
sorry when I looked back at the 1891 census it seems her birthdate is about 1872 which is too late for teh Argentine census of 1869. From BMD though it looks likely it is Greening so I'd better get the MC to check thanks.
Jack
Thanks Bertie I suppose that makes sense.

Hi Jack....I found this link you might find interesting - re: Emily Carr...and her heritage /Argentina-Rosario etc... I speculated she may have rebranded her heritage as a BS and came to the UK rather than Germany (thats of course if she was German?)
