Hi, I have been looking for the medal card for Private William Evans 18183, 1st Border Regiment, but the only card I have found as yet is service number 13183. Is this a mistake. He was mentioned in despatches and was awarded the Military Medal. Any ideas

Not all of the medal cards hold the correct information. There are after all many thousands of them. My great uncle had extended correspondence with the MOD after the first world war because the medals that they sent him and the medal card had the wrong information on them. To say the least he was most unhappy that thay could not get his name or rank correct!
