I have a ancestry membership but the 1911 census does not help me. I am searching for Wheatley and Cheeseman. They were both in a caravan as fairground travellers and were living at Fairground Cock Meadow, Attleborough, Norfolk but there are about 9 different fairground cock details and have already spent my money and not found them on the proper main 1911 census website.

    Hi,

I have just stumbled across this site by accident and was interested in your post regarding the name Wheatley.

I too have Wheatley in my family, my Aunt married Lord Alfred Wheatley, also a fairground showman.

Although I can find out about him, I am having trouble finding out about my Grandfather who sometimes travelled with him. I would love to know what he did. Several of my Aunts also were dancers on the fairground, and my own father and uncle did a bit of boxing. Again I'd love to know just what sort of dancing and what happened in the boxing booths.

Grandfather (and family) was William Waterhouse, although sometimes known as Ball.

The Ball is because his own Father died while he was quite young and Mother re-married James Ball (a hawker), therefore he was brought up as Ball.

I don't suppose you would have any information regarding this part of the family but I would love to hear if you do.

    Regards
    Kate

you can't put email addies on rootschat either...

Kate, I didn't see the removed message but if you join rootschat please post about 3 general posts so that you can activate the personal message system over there, then you and Spanishlady can swap email address privately and safely.
We generally post on the photo and restoration board... things like "good restore" etc., just to get past the 3 posts. Posting on the totally off topic board doesn't count
