Hi all,
John Folly was born in 1882 at Marlow, Bucks. Son to Daniel John and Sarah nee Miles.
Can anybody have a look to see where he is on the 1891, 1901 and 1911 census' ?
Help expanding this branch would be much appreciated.
:o)

Its a tough one this.
Daniel John often went by John as his name BUT he has been known to use his stepfather's surname also.
So,
Daniel John Folly/Folley
John Folley/Folly
Daniel John or John Steptoe
He married Sarah Miles, cant remember if it was under Steptoe or Folly but not until later on from the 1871. I think George and Annie were his but i dont think they ever took the Folly name.
Strange one but im sure they had a son John after they were officially married.

So George, Kate and Elizabeth are defo his children.
Now to find them on the 1891. Should be under Folly and hopefully it will show a son called John Folly.
Fingers crossed.

Sarh seems to have kept Miles in 1901! Have also seen Kate as a Miles on 1901, but still hunting for 1891 to see if John is to be seen

Daniel John died in 1917 in Wycombe district so they must have become estranged. A very weird relationship and confusing for theirt children not to mention us !!!
If we can just track em on the 1891 to see if they had a son John.
Found them

Cool.
So they were under Folly in 1891.
I think John Jnr kept the name. Does he appear on the 1901 ? Of course he could be Folly/Folley, Steptoe or Miles !!
Confusing eh !!

He's not immediately obvious - there is a John Body on 1901, but he's on 1891 as well so it's not him

I can;t find him on 1901 but I think he's revert to Miles by 1911 - this person is b Marlow (may also explain 1901)

Thanks MB.
A very strange set up. They are defo Daniel John Folly's kids but kept the surname Miles. They then split up and Sarah reverts to the Miles surname.
I think i found Daniel John Folly on the 1901 census in Herts somewhere, then again in an insitution in Watford in 1911. His death is then registered in Wycombe in 1917. Can anyone have a look on the 1901 and 1911 to see whether he is married and what his situation was ?
Regards
G

Using wrong search terms
Likes quite possible - he's a bricklayer, as John has been through the censuses. Marital status not noted. The family with which he is lodging were all born in county so probably not relatives
