Good Day,
I am searching for some information about my grandfather's {Walter Thomas Roberts} b. 1897 d.1960 father. Walter Isaac Roberts b. Jan 1861 d. 1902 in London.
He was a lamp lighter and one of the lights exploded killing him. Where would I find more information about what truly happened? My grandfather was only 5yrs old when this happened.
Where should I try to look or get this information?
I do thank all those that try to help me find this information.
Wayne
You could start with the local Records Office for the area where it happened to check through the newspapers for the time to see if it had been reported in the press.
What area was it by the way and do you have the death certificate which may indicate if there was an inquest and if so there should be a court record of it,
Edna

Sorry BB couldn't find a cert - wondering if you have the right name? I was hunting around and found the links but think you might want to search the British library archives for newspapers reports around the time you stated - 1902...or is it 1912?!
I will have another look for you...

I have found baptisms and marriages for some of the girls. For the marriages Walter is described as a warehouseman. he also is NOT noted as deceased, unlike the fathers of their spouses. There is a Walter acting as witness to one, but that could be father or son
This looks very like his death

I wonder if the death was of a grandfather or other relative and the story has got mixed up
Walter appears to be living with his family in Shoreditch in 1911
I too cannot find a death in 1902 and he is clearly alive in 1911. Do you have the death certificate?.
I am sorry I do not have any certificates but working on trying to make sure of the right dates etc. I know that some information may be wrong but I've got no living relitives who can hand me down any information so I am on my own and slowly learning.
Thanks to those that have given me other places to look and special thanks for those that asked me to email them for extra help.

You will need to purchase certificates eventually to verify what you have found and gain further information, but don't worry, someone on here will tell you what to do to get them.
DON'T order them through Any or other sites, they will charge you more than twice as much as you pay to get them from the GRO
