good morning everyone, i am off to quainton today in search of my great grandfathers resting place and see if i can find the reating places o f any of my other desendants
Good luck with your trip
well sorry to say it was not a success. some stones were unreadable and some graves had no stone at all. i was wondering whether a farm labourers family would be able to afford a stone at all. anyhow i have to say it was a beautiful church and graveyard.
You should send a message to the church or see if they have a website to request info on the family graves as they may have records of where in the grounds the burials took place.
I took part in a search for a soldiers grave and we found the burial church yard then found out from the church where the gravestone was and it had fallen over and lay face down so we managed to raise funds to have it restored and uprighted and it looked lovely, he had no living family.
Of course there may be no gravestone in the case of my Grandmother who died very young but the grave site was found and I managed to place spring bulbs in the grass where she layed in a paupers grave with five other people. That was 100 years ago this year when she died, I must go back in the spring and look again.

Much the same as the churchyard at St Mary's North Marston, lots of stones, but most of the old ones you can only read a couple of letters, if that.
But at least you have been there, which is always nice.
The local family history society may have listed them in their MIs (Monumental Inscriptions, ie gravestones). I assume that you have a burial record for your ancestors that indicates that they are buried there. It may be that there is no gravestone, there were always more people buried than there are gravestones in most churches.
it was lovely very peaceful and pretty i was actually given the wronge church name but have got contact details for the clergy and will be doing so soon.. sorry for the delay old dads in hospital
