    Please help!

Having renewed my ancestry membership for worldwide so I could view the 1911 census for myself I now find that it isnt easy as earlier ones so I need help to find my way around it.

I am looking for a Nora Eveline Moore born 1890, father Frederick Moore born 1865 Lambeth, mother Elizabeth Lucy Budd,

I have her on the 1891 census with both parents, 1901 living in Camberwell with both parents, 1901 after mother dies she is with her grandmother Sophia born 1834 Chilworth and father.

On a public tree (without proof) she is down as living at Tooting Bec Gardens Streatham SW in 1911 but this is where my problem starts!. I put in Nora Eveline Moore and the address but all I get is Miss Moore in loadsa places in London? then I put in just the address but even that does not come up, how can I make this easy for myself.

    Help!!!
    Harriet

Hi Harriet , Ancestry as yet doesn't have the full 1911 details ( think they have the full version in next year , what they have is the names of the householder and addresses ( front part of the census sheet ) FMP has the full details so I found Nora on there

    She's a servant

Bashful thank you for looking for me and finding her on FMP

Thats a bit of a swizz thank goodness I am only paying monthly so will cancel the world wide from next month thought I would be able to do it for myself instead of keep asking on here.

Dont think nurses today would like to be refered to as servants do you do you think she was nursing a family member.

    Much appreciated
    H

The 1911 site would perhaps be the best for you. It's pay per view (ppv) but if you only look at the transcript it costs Β£1, the actuall image is about Β£3 (can't quite remember)

Less is more on this one. Once you have located your person you can then sometimes find out who they're with.

Delete the first name and the date of birth (dob) and birthplace (if in), and enter residential place as found, and put the first name in 'other members of the household'.

This will bring up a list of other names which have the same surname. Sometimes it's just your family, or sometimes it's none if they're living with family of another name. And sometimes there's just too many names. And you'll have to pay to find out who is who.

Doesn't always work but often can.

For example, I just put in Nora Moore b 1890 (changed the year to plus/minus one, and a list came up

HOUSEHOLD MOORE NORA F 1890 21 St George London
HOUSEHOLD MOORE NORA F 1889 22 Watford Hertfordshire
HOUSEHOLD MOORE NORA F 1890 21 Bury Lancashire
HOUSEHOLD MOORE NORA F 1889 22 Ripon Yorkshire West Riding
    INSTITUTION MOORE NORA A F 1891 20 Croydon Surrey
HOUSEHOLD MOORE NORA AUGUSTA F 1891 20 Croydon Surrey
HOUSEHOLD MOORE NORA EVELYN F 1891 20 Wandsworth London <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
HOUSEHOLD MOORE NORA KATHLEEN F 1890 21 West Derby Lancashire
HOUSEHOLD MOORE NORA LILIAN F 1889 22 Tewkesbury Gloucestershire
HOUSEHOLD MOORE NORA VIOLET F 1889 22 Edmonton Middlesex
HOUSEHOLD MOORE NORA WINIFRED F 1891 20 West Derby Lancashire

<<<<<<<<< This looks a likely one.

Then you could spend a Β£1 and see who she's with. Or ask here smiley - biggrin

As you can see, only a couple here in London, and a couple in Croydon. So you could eliminate the others.

Theere is a young child in the household so Nora is probably a Childrens Nurse ( or nanny as they are known nowadays )

I only have 9 so it looks like I will have to keep searching for the two that possibly died at birth or soon after, not easy when I'm looking for Smith, hey ho.
