Does anyone have any info on Ida May, b. Belfast 17/12/1904, married Andrew Cecil Dunn 25/5/29, later divorced. Looking on behalf of daughter who was adopted out and has no computer. We are looking for death (place and year) or any other info. Thanks

Did she stay in Northern Ireland or move to England? If she did remain in Belfast, then you won't find her death online. You would have to go to the GRO in Belfast to get that information. I cannot see a death for an Ida May Gamble or Dunn on the English death records.

Your friend should ask for their adoption file from the social services nearest to where they live as they will be given advice and councelling before they give the file over if it is in this country, I have recently been involved in helping a man living abroad in Canada access his file through the social services in Canada and he now has all the information he needs including a sisters details and is in the process of making contact with the sister.
Sometimes people are told their file has been lost, destroyed by fire or some such story but the law says they must be kept for 70 years I think it is so they are just trying to put people off.
Family Tree Forum is a good place to start searching for adioption as you can get help and advice from others in similar situation and they have a personal message system where you can swop messages keeping name s of living private. They are also shielded from search engines on the Adoption Reunion Board.

It looks from the 1911 census that Ida's mother may have died as Ida appears to be living with her father (described as a widower) in Lyle Street in Shankhill.

The daughter was born in Belfast and is now 75. She was adopted out at a few months old and would just like to know what happened to her mother. Social Services have not been too helpful. Thanks, Joyce

Thank you. I believe my friend has this info. We are trying to trace where Ida lived in her latter years and where and when she died. My friend is now 75 herself and was adopted out at a few months old so never knew her mother.
