Thank you Marymog - I have the census info when Mark and William were at home - it is the King's (Shropshire Light Infantry) - 53rd & 85th Foot 1892 I would like more info and photos if possible please...
I am starting to realise that it's no wonder these men never married - especially since I just found a link putting them in Hong Kong in 1894 - not nice...

Completely irrelevant, but it seemed spooky seeing this regiment mentioned. My dad was in the KSLIs

Perhaps not spooky then, but it is the first time I think I have seen it mentioned.
I am from Middlesex, during WW2 and there may be something in Dad's army records about the regiment.

I think they were a small local militia - likely volunteers initially but none the less infantrymen who were pretty tough by all accounts! Does that sound like your dad?Just curious - whats his surname?
