Tracing family in Hong Kong

  My father-in-law came to Britain around 1950 and is now 72 years old. He would like to be able to try and trace family back in Hong Kong to enable him to go back one last time to meet any living relatives. He lost contact with them not long after he moved to Britain. Can anyone give me any advice as to the best way to proceed. Many thanks.

  have a look at this site and scroll down below the boxes to see what is available, I cant find Hong Kong but China is there

  Hello Kleung123 and welcome to the board.
  
  As your father-in-law is wanting information on living relatives have you tried genesreunited I believe the cost is about Β£10 for a 6 month membership you may make contact with relations on there.
  
  We cannot help with the living on this board due to the data protection act.
  
  I don't know of any particular database dealing with the residents of Hong Kong but familysearch may have something.
  
  May I suggest that your father-in-law starts his family tree listing all the relatives he knows of and you may find something online.
  
  You could always put an advertisement in a Hong Kong newspaper.
