Nothing to do with Family Tree, just curious. A plaque on a building I came across, stated 'the Mass House stood on this site from 1800's to 1950's'. Can't find anybody who can tell me what a 'Mass House' was. Any ideas please?
Sid
Hi Sid
if you google (advanced) for "a mass house" it looks to be a place where a priest was concerned.
mm
Was it in Birmingham, Retiredsid? Just in case, this might be it:
Thanks both.
You're right susieroe. It is in Birmingham but not in that particular part. It looks like it was a house that not only housed priests but also where people went to go to Catholic services. Don't know how large this one was at it was demolished in 1950 to make way for houses.
Thanks
Well the service in the Catholic church is called mass. They go to mass, have Christmas mass, Easter mass etc.
