Hi, I am having two dead ends relative to my maternal lines:
one is searching for a birth record and parentage for:
Eliza Thomas Jacka born in 1860 daughter of Mary Ann Jacka (I find her in the census for 1871, 81, etc. but am stumped about her father. There was no marriage as far as I know, but no bastardy bonds. Thomas is said to have been relevant to her father but I don't know if as a surname or forename. She later married her step-brother John Dobb, son of William James Dobb.
Her mother married John's father (William James Dobb, widow of Susanna Glasson)
William James Dobb's first wife is Susanna Glasson. We can find the name George Glasson on her marriage record as being her father, but no birth record for her anywhere in the online parish registers. Her birth year according to date at marriage and subsequent censuses, would be about 1825. Her first daughter's name was Grace Runnals Dobb which may offer another clue to her mother's line but so far, no baptism or birth records. Her censuses show her being born at Paul or Madron. Any help is greatly appreciated.
I believe we discovered that she is a different Susan(na) from the child of John and Mary Tremain Glasson who later emigrated to Australia.
Cheers!
Hi, is this the 1871 census entry you were referring to for Eliza Jacka?
Person: JACKA, Eliza J

If so, the original states Eliza J Jacka rather than a T for Thomas and also lists her as a daughter of the Head of the household which is Eliza Jacka rather than Mary Ann Jacka who would appear to be her sister.
Having said that there is another Eliza Jacka in the 1871 census for Cornwall so may be I have the wrong family.
Pheno
For info this is the other Eliza Jacka who is with a Mary A Jacka so although they might be mother and daughter I guess they would both be nieces of Eliza Quintrell.

well quite a few trees on ancestry have her as daughter of james jacka and mary blanchard who married in 1824......................................but dont think they have thought it through as they have mary jacka born 1800 ......so dont think she can be eliza thomas born 1860's mother . probably grandparent ie mother of mary ann

Vron, your 1881 Eliza Dobb entry seems to confirm that it is the second of the two 1871 entries that is the right one as Eliza Quintrell is present on both censuses/censii?
Pheno

Edna, I think Vrons entry in message 7 indicates that this is not the correct Eliza Jacka as I had supposed in message 2 and that, in fact, the Eliza Jacka referred to in the OP is the one in message 3 with Eliza Quintrell.
Does anybody else agree with me?

I thought as I had found it and no other for the name Pheno I would add the baptism.
However there is some Parish registers that can be viewed on line by browsing the Parish and going through the registers in date order but may take a while here is the link.
Edna
The other thought is that she may have been added to the NON Com records for some reason
hi to you both. i was hoping the OP would come back with more info about what she knows - if she hasnt birth or baptism how does she know eliza is mary jane child and not sister etc.
it looks like the eliza she wants is the one with eliza quintrell
