  Can anybody tell me how to find any informastion on ( I have all census records except 1911) on Thomas Andrew France 1863-1940 he lived in Dewsbury west Yorkshire. He was a portrate painter and Phoographer in 1891 and I wondered if anybody new if he ever had an exibition or something

  Try the Historical directories site to see if he is listed at premises or if he worked from home.
  
  
  They can be difficult to use but once you have found the right area and timeframe it works alphabetically so I hope you find something

  By 1911 he is working at something I can't make out but he 'employed' rather than being an employer.

  I realise you mentioned you have all the census returns - but this one states that Thomas was a ' carver & guilder' - might change the search a bit? I was researching and I came across a 'photographer' - John Greatorex - he was a 'photographer' however - further research found out that he was a travelling showman and used photography as part of his act! Might be worth searching another angle? I will have a look for you...
