Can someone please read the occupation of James, also this seems to be his 2nd wife? but the only marriage that fits in the 1890s is I think his son, James Alfred.. I cannot see a death for 1st wife Emily. Thank you.
I think the occupation is 'Beer Retailer'
Re 2nd wife - 1891 his wife was Polly - I think this is a derivative of Mary Ann - so maybe same wife?
I think that his occupation is beer retailer, it s rather badly written, but the occupation abbreviation seems to be Pub (ie publican). I think you have two marriages as the age of his wives in 1891 and 1901 are very.different.
thank you both very much. On previous census wife was Emily, there is a marriage in West Brom to her.Shall do some more digging.
There is this death - fits with age of Emily

Could Emma be Emily?
Thanks, got myself confused then, Emily is on the 1881 census, but that death looks likely.
Possible for 2nd marriage?

Is this the 1847 James ?
Yes Jan it is.
Yes Glen that's the son. He dies in the 1920s and there is a will with him leaving Β£800 to his wife!! Can't see a death for his father though. Many thanks both of you.
