I am trying to tie up some loose ends. I have a Mary A Greedy on the 1851 census, living with her parents and siblings - not sure what happens to her after that - the Greedy's of Wiveliscombe are a little confusing.
1851 Census (England)
Thomas Grudy (Greedy!) b 1791 - Head
Silvia b 1803 - Wife
James b 1834
Henry b 1840
Mary A b 1842
George b1846
Also in the household is another Mary - Anc**try have transcriber her as being 19 but I believe she is 69 and Thomas's sister.
I think Mary A Greedy is working as a servant in 1861 alongside her brother George -
Household Members: Name Age
John T Williams 58
Maria Williams 43
Harriet Wasley 9
Mary A Greedy 18
George Greedy 16
(Ref - Class: RG9; Piece: 1608; Folio: 10; Page: 13; GSU roll: 542839)
Not sure what becomes of her after this - can anyone help? My main interests are with James Greedy b. 1834 app (my ggg grandfather) but the more information I can find on the Greedys the better Ages are never consistent and often names aren't either

Thanks Tourmie - must have missed this somehow. Looks like a possible as in the 1871 census Head of house is Fred Besley and wife is Mary A Besley I will have to get the certificate to satisfy my curiosity.

Oh dear - remeber now why I gave up on her before yes this is a possibility Bashfuljan - will have to look for a later marriage and see if I can rule her in or out - before I order any certificates.

You are right, Mary Greedy is clearly listed as Thomas's sister aged 69 and having two wives should have been picked up in transcription checks!. Given the Greedy error have you looked up under Grudy?.

This does look like a strong contender but still doesn't mean I can ignore the 1871 entry either without the marriage certificates - lots of Mary Greedys and Mary A Greedys in Wiveliscombe. Does look a good match though

I do have a Henry Greeedy b 1865 in Wiveliscombe but he is in Cardiff in 1901 - don't think this one is mine - but then again I think they all the Greedys from Wiveliscombe are related!

Hi dmatt47 - I search for my Greedy family under Grudy and Gready - anything goes - there are lots of them and some marry Greedys as well just to make it even more confusing.
There are online transcriptions of Wiveliscombe parish records which are really helpful but it is still difficult to unravel some of them
