Can anybody tell me how I can find out about a will that went to chancery about the late 1800s or early 1900s . All I know about it is that it concerned land

you need to check the probate calendars. They are located at most county records offices. ancestry also has them online.
If you already know the name, date of death and location, you can order a will for Β£5.00 from HMRC
looks like the website has had an overhaul since I last checked!
Can I just mention that the cost of wills went up to Β£6.earlier this year
