Hello all - a little help needed.

I have most of my Redshaw Springs sorted (the name goes through the ages!)
but am stuck on one particular one.

Redshaw Spring is born 18th Feb 1814 in Poplar/Wapping/Tower Hamlets (east London basically) and baptised 17th April 1818 in Wapping, with father Redshaw Spring and mother Mary.

(he also has a sister Harriet Jane, baptised same day who sadly dies aged 11)

Redshaw Spring senior marries in Tower Hamlets in January 1821 a Mary Swaby. He is listed as widower.

So was Redshaw Spring (senior) married to one Mary, who died and then married another? If so, where is this earlier Mary? I cant' find a death/marriage for them.

There are a couple - Redshaw and Mary Spring in various censii but they live in Lincs and are born 1802/1811 so can't be my ones.

    Any help gratefully received!

(I have most info on Redshaw Spring jnr and downwards)

Only one I can see in right area is this one, I know it gives Mary on her sons baptism , but she could have died earlier , and her name put on , ( like some marriages have the father mentioned , even though they are deceased )

Ah thank you, that could be right. And yes, I expect there's a chance he did give her name even though she'd died.

But looking at the image of the baptism register, young Redshaw was clearly born 18 Feb 1817, not 1814 - compare with the 7 in the date of baptism and the 14 at the bottom of the second page. So his mother couldn't have been the Mary Spring who died in 1816.

According to the NBI, The Mary Spring buried 17 Aug 1818 was aged 75.

There are two more Mary Springs buried Middlesex. One was in 1844 and aged 17 so not her. The other one was buried 10 November 1828 aged 45 at St Marys RC church Moorfields, Middlesex.

I am trying to trace Redshaw Spring Jnr and Snr as they are my 4th and 5th g grandfathers! I know the youngest one fell off a chair and died, he was a police constable.

I cannot find Redshaw Snr census details, I only have his 2nd marriage and death.

Please contact me - [Personal details removed by Moderator]

    Many thanks

Nicola sorry but personal details are not allowed here and no way to make contact with flossy here as she is not a regular poster here these days.

Try genes reunited as there are lots of people with the name Redshaw Spring in their tree and it costs Β£10 for 6 months membership

You may also want to check one world trees at Rootsweb to see if the name is there too but take care copying from there as corrections are never made and it may contain errors so check everything yourself
