I am new to this site, and I am hoping someone maybe able to help me find my relly ancesters. Is there anyone out there that can check the 1891 Census for a Rodger or Roger Kelly, his wife Kate and there would have been 3 children Mary, Michael and Peter.Thanking you in advance. Mighty Gran.
hi mightygran,
As there is a lot of ro(d)ger Kellys on the 1891 census can you give any dates of birth and places relating to yours?
Regards
Spike
Hi spike, Thanks for your message Regards Rodger Kelly, as far as I know he was born in Ireland about 1856, 1857 and his parents names were Michael and Julia, I have also found a brother Patrick born about 1854. Happy searching Mightygran.
Do you think the following family is the right people? The year of birth is wrong but he has a brother called Patrick with him. Fingers crossed!
Kelley, Lizzie abt 1860 Ireland Wife Oldham Lancashire
Kelley, Martin abt 1856 Ireland Head Oldham Lancashire
Kelley, Mary abt 1890 Oldham, Lancashire, England Daughter Oldham Lancashire
Kelley, Patrick abt 1870 Ireland Brother Oldham Lancashire
Kelley, Roger abt 1865 Ireland Brother Oldham Lancashire
Holloway, Bridget abt 1869 Ireland Sister-in-law Oldham Lancashire
Holloway, Catherine abt 1846 Ireland Mother-in-law Oldham Lancashire
Holloway, Teresa abt 1873 Ireland Sister-in-law Oldham Lancashire
Reference number RG12/3308/89 page 27&28.
If you think this is them and want further information from the census pages just let me know.
The only other person I could find with the same name and born in Ireland was the following:
Kelly, Roger abt 1859 Co Roscommon, Ireland Servant Didsbury Lancashire

Hi Mightygran,
On the 1891 census I was only able to find one Rodger Kelly born in Ireland abt 1859 in Co. Roscommon and his occupation was given as a farm labour and living in Hillgate Lane, Disbury, Lancs. Can you give any more on the childrens ages and places of birth which would help to narrow down the field. Also do you know if Rodger died during the 1880's?
Thank you
Spike

Hello Spike: Once again thanks for your interest.
actually
rodger Kelly born 1859 sounds like it could be him, as on the 1881 Census he was working as an indoor servant on a farm. I think his lst child Mary was born in Manchester or Lancashire, 2nd Michael I don't know possible the same and the 3rd Peter I think could have been the same, unless he went back to Ireland after the first one was born. There ages at time of Census would have been Mary 4 to 5 years, Michael 2 to 3 years and Peter under 12 months. After checking Rodgers birth year again I realise it would have been about 1859 as he was 25 when he married in Chorlton in 1884 No he did not die 1888,he left for Australia in the early 1890s but I don,t know what year. That is why I want to check the 1891 Census to see if he was still in Lancashire..Have a good day. Mightygran

Hi Spike, No the Rodger Kelly that died 1896 was not my grandfather, but he could be a relly somewhere down the track. Regards mightgran
Hi Sahara, Thank you for doing a search of the 1891 Census for me, however, the family you sent was not my family, even though some of the names were the same, but the Rodger Kelly born 1859 in co Roscommon could be a lead.If he was in Lancashire in 1891 his wifes name would of been catherine or kate and there would have been 3 children, Mary 4 to 5 years, Michael 2 to 3 years and Peter propably 3or4 months.
If you find any of these names I would appreciate it.Regards Mightygran.
