While looking for a birth registration for another person in my tree I have stumbled across a marriage registration for another person. However because I cannot pinpoint which of two males on the details that are registered for that date come up, I am hoping someone might look up the 1891 and/or the 1901 Censuses and see if they can solve this puzzle for me.

The person in question is Ellen Banham Huggins born 1868 in Botesdale Suffolk. Her marriage is registered in the June Quarter of 1885 in the District of Ipswich, Suffolk. The names of the two males listed are:

Harry Francis & Peter William Last.

I would greatly appreciate it if someone is able to pinpoint which of these two males she married from the Censuses and if there were any children listed in the household. Any details that you can provide me with would be greatly appreciated, ie names, places of birth, ages & source details of the relevant census.

    Regards

    Michelle

This looks like her in 1901, living at 53 Fore Hamlet, Ipswich. She is a widow and a charwoman. Mother-in-law is a laundress. I couldn't spot her in 1891, but I'll have another look. All the children are boys, despite what the transcription says about Arthur!

Arthur Last abt 1888 Ipswich, Suffolk, England Granddaughter St Clement Suffolk
Edwards Last abt 1892 Ipswich, Suffolk, England Grandson St Clement Suffolk
Ellen Last abt 1867 Botesdale, Suffolk, England Daughter-in-law St Clement Suffolk
Hannah Last abt 1859 Ipswich, Suffolk, England Daughter St Clement Suffolk
Henry Last abt 1898 Ipswich, Suffolk, England Grandson St Clement Suffolk
Jane Last abt 1853 Ipswich, Suffolk, England Head St Clement Suffolk

Here she is in 1891, living with her widowed father. Ignore what the transcription says, Ellen is clearly shown on the image as Ellen Last. John, Richard and George are ag labs, Peter is a blacksmith.

Banham, Ellen abt 1868 Botesdale, Suffolk, England Daughter Botesdale Suffolk
Banham, George abt 1876 Botesdale, Suffolk, England Son Botesdale Suffolk
Banham, John abt 1844 Botesdale, Suffolk, England Head Botesdale Suffolk
Banham, Richard abt 1870 Botesdale, Suffolk, England Son Botesdale Suffolk
Banham, Samuel abt 1883 Botesdale, Suffolk, England Son Botesdale Suffolk
Banham, William abt 1881 Botesdale, Suffolk, England Son Botesdale Suffolk
Last, Arthur abt 1888 Ipswich, Suffolk, England Grandson Botesdale Suffolk
Last, George abt 1890 Ipswich, Suffolk, England Grandson Botesdale Suffolk

    Hi Anisel

Many thanks for your messages with all the information from both censuses. Apologies for the delay in response I had a couple of really busy days and didn't manage to get online. Apart from which the weather here right now is more akin to a British winter! The biggest shock was getting snow down here in the suburbs, something I am quite happy for them to keep to the snowfields in the high country.

Once again very, very many thanks for your outstanding information and help.

    Best regards
    Michelle
