This pub was pulled down in 1922 I think but my great-great grandmother was a Licensed Victualler 'own account' there with her son Walter in 1901 as on the census.

I know that it was called the Bacon Loft because bacon was smoked in the loft there for a while.

Her maiden name was Sarah Sheldon and her married name Sarah Neale. I think her mothers' name was Sarah Flood from memory.

Anyone know anything to add to this???

    Thanks

    Hi Boredashell

Just for luck, I typed in "Bacon Loft, Bognor" into Google, and the top answer was a family reminiscence which mentions several places in Bognor, including The Friary Arms, or The Bacon Loft.

Though it doesn't match your pub name, thought you might be interested in reading it.

    cheers

    Sue
