Can anyone help in findin John and Charlotte Slade. Have found them on the 1841 and 1871 census, need to find them on the 1851 and 1861.
John was born circa 1820 Oxfordshire and Charlotte circa 1824 Wellingborough Northants.
I have some missing children.
You may already know, but according to the 1871 census John Slade was born in 1818 and was a boot maker. I'm afraid, after that I could find absolutely nothing on either person in 1861 or 51. Sorry. Good luck with the search!
Hi
One thing to try for the missing Census entries is just the Christian name, the estimated date of birth, and location of birth, in the area where you think they were likely to be living (hope that's fairly consistent!).
This will obviously throw up lots and lots of people, but will also give you some of the mis-spellings/mis transliterations which may be the people you are looking for.
Someone on this board gave me this hint, and I found a number of the people I was searching for, whose names had been variously and interestingly misspelled!
Hope it helps
Sue
Thank you both for your help.
Have you tried looking at variations of the name John? How about Jonathan or Joseph, of which John was a common nickname?
