Trying to trace my grandmother Elizabeth Arlette Jones. All other attempts have proved fruitless cos of lack of info. All we know is she was born circa 1915 and lived in Lewisham, SE London for a while and may have gone on to live in Exeter, Devon. She had a son in 1930 ie my father.
I know this is a short in the dark but as the middle name is somewhat unusual is it poss anyone will know of her?

    Hi
You don't say if you have any idea where Elizabeth was born. I just checked the births for London between 1913-1918 and found the following entries for Elizabeth A Jones.

    Jones Elizabeth A A Rouse Southwark.1d 56 Birth June 1913

    Jones Elizabeth A Knibb Holborn.1b 1050 Birth Dec 1913

    Jones Elizabeth A Jones Woolwich.1d 2298 Birth June 1914

Jones Elizabeth A Day Mile End Old Town.1c 630 Birth Dec 1914

    Jones Elizabeth A Smith Marylebone.1a 822 Birth Dec 1914

    Jones Elizabeth A Furness Poplar.1c 900 Birth June 1916

    Jones Elizabeth A Read Islington.1b 438 Birth Sept 1916

    Jones Elizabeth A Westcott Kensington.1a 224 Birth Dec 1916

Depending on whether you think any of the above are likely to be your Elizabeth you could order the birth certificate(s) with a check against her middle name Arlette.

    Many thanks

Hi Sam, Do you know when Elizabeth died?, after a certain year the date of birth is given on the index, although I can't remember which year this was, perhaps someone else can provide with this. Also if you write to the GRO at Southport you can ask them to do a search of three years, I think the price is 11.50, as Elizabeth had an unusual middle name I think you stand a good chance of finding her, but if you can find a date of birth on the death index, this would help you a lot, best wishes, Jean
