Anyone any info on any Dunkerley's in Bolton on
1841 census. I already have my Thomas Dunkerley's family at Back Shaw St but I am trying to trace any more of his family - probably around the area of the town centre.
Thanks
The only on line - easy to view 1841 census is with British origins and they do not have Lancashire. Stepping Stones has a pay to view if your county is lucky enough to be on there. Lancashire is available to view. However it is not searchable except by area so will be a long haul. I have some credits left if you want me to check. Or some kind person may look if they have the CD. I will need some more details though as there are literally hundreds and hindreds of pages to check and the only way I found mine in Lincolnshire was because I knew the village they were in.

How old would your Thomas Dunkerley have been. Year of birth etc?
May I ask where you obtained the info about your Thomas being in Back Shaw Street. This would be enable people to track down siblings parents etc.

Hi Jowin1
Thanks for replying. I actually did find the info on Thomas Dunkerley and his wife Betty and children by going through that part of the census at the local records office at one of our nearest towns - Preston. I just wondered if anyone had happened to be researching Dunkerley and had come across any one else. He would be 28 years on that particular census. His parents according on his birth on Familysearch were Betty and John and owing to early deaths at that time they could well be dead by then.
The funny thing is that they moved to Blackburn approx 1850 and by the 1851 census not a single
Dunkerley is recorded in Bolton. Thanks for your reply.

You don't say which census. So no lead here to DOB as a guide.

Thomas Dunkerley married Betty Gaskgill
31st Oct 1836 St Peters ,Bolton Le Moors, Lancs
(IGI search)
Alice Dunkerley married Edward Anderson 16th July 1828 same church
I am assuming you found Thomas (b1814)and Betty (b1815) Dunkerly in Blackburn on the 1851 census with their children: Joseph 1843, Mary 1850 and Alice 1837
and you are looking for Thomas's parents John and Betty on the 1841 or later?
Hijc26red. Thanking you for your reply
I have found all my info on Thomas Dunkerley on the census 1851,1861 and 1871 which follows through to my great grandfather William Dunkerley. I have also found the date of Thomas's birth on Family Search. He is on
Back Shaw St on the 1841 but it is his parents John and Betty Dunkerley I am trying to find info on. There is a Betty Horrox married a John Dunkerley at Oldham? which I could think is a link because the Thomas Dunkerley mentioned above named one of his children Thomas HORROCKS DUNKERLEY. I am just wondering if there are anymore Dunkerleys on the 1841 census.
Thanks
There are many Dunkerleys around Oldham as you have probably already found on familysearch and the censuses... Good Luck!
If you go to Rootsweb Freebmd, and look for deaths for Dunkerley in Lancashire there are quite a few John's who died between Sept 1837 and Dec 1841 and one Betty March 1839. The distrct is Ashton & C. The ages are not logged on the register but should be on the death certificate. Let me know if I can be of any further help.
