I am trying to find Pendleton ancestors from Lancashire.
In particular I am looking for children of Elizabeth and George Pendleton, one I know of is James Pendleton (1854-1934). Children were born after 1840.
Also looking for marriage of George Pendleton and Elizabeth (surname unknown).
When were George & Elizabeth born? Trying to assertain when they would have married.
Do not know when they were born. I believe they had a daughter Annie born in about 1846. Annie is listed as the informant on her mother's death certificate in 1887.
It has always been believed by the living Pendletons that the family came from Preston in Lancashire.
Hi
So if you have her mother's death certificate you must know the age at death, to give an approx dob
Sam
Age at death of Elizabeth Pendleton (no maiden name give) was 62 years, died in Preston
I'm amazed how FEW Pendletons there are in the Preston area. There are hundreds round Liverpool, but censuses show hardly any in Preston & district.
FreeBMD only has 19 Pendleton events for Preston, so there are not many around!
There's a marriage of Annie Pendleton in 1878, another in 1886; I can't find either of them in the following censuses. Indeed virtually none of the BMD entries seem to be visible in the census indexes. I'm thinking conspiracy theory!
Ann Eliza Pendleton apparently married Richard Wignall in Q2 1896. If I'm right she is 28 in 1901, a Cotton spinner & Richard is 30, a Cotton winder. They are at 40 Shuttleworth Rd & both born Preston. RG13/3950 ED17 folio137 p32.
Are you certain the family was from Preston? Could someone have misremembered Prescott, where Pendletons are not as thin on the ground?
I started to wonder this, I know that in 1881 at least one of the children, James (born approx 1854) was in India, possibly more members of the family were there as well.
I am now looking at Lancashire as a whole to see if I can find the family. I wish I knew Elizabeth's maiden name this might help more.
